Abstract

This work brings to light key episodes from the brief yet impactful life of Vladimir, son of Absalom, Mghebrishvili, an officer in the Armed Forces of the Russian Empire.

The entirety of his military career was marked by immense responsibility and unwavering dedication. He devoted himself to his work with tireless effort and a deep sense of passion. Among his most significant achievements was the design of several armored vehicles, followed by the successful implementation of these groundbreaking ideas. These armored personnel carriers were among the first of their kind in the Russian Empire, playing a crucial role in providing substantial support to the empire's armed forces at various pivotal moments.

Among V. Mghebrishvili's numerous inventions were hand grenades, including those that could be thrown with the aid of a rifle, cooling systems for machine guns, grenades designed to target armored vehicles, bulletproof glass, and more.

During World War I, V. Mghebrishvili participated with great enthusiasm and demonstrated exemplary dedication in combat operations. Over the years, he served in various roles, including as a member of the 1st Caucasian Railway Battalion. In 1911, he led a military expedition to Persia, and from 1914, he oversaw the garage of the training automobile company.

For his bravery and commitment, he was awarded numerous honors. These included the Order of St. Anna, Second Class (awarded in March 1915), the Order of St. Vladimir, Fourth Class (awarded in April 1915), and his most prestigious recognition, the Order of St. George, Fourth Class, which was posthumously awarded in October 1915 (for heroism on the battlefield).
