Abstract

Since ancient times, the door has had a special role in human life: it was a gateway from the outside world to the inside, from public to private and vice versa. Perhaps it is not surprising that initially the door was made of wood, which ancient man learned to process. Throughout history, the construction and size of the door have changed and developed, and today it represents an important part of the architectural element, which is quite an active element in terms of dynamics.

In this article, I would like to talk about the artistic and semantic value of the Tbilisi hallway doors, their invaluable importance for Tbilisi and the sad reality that their deplorable condition has approached a critical limit. I would like to talk about the possible ways of their salvation, because more than 300 doors of cultural heritage in Tbilisi are already on the verge of destruction, not only the doors that so beautifully adorn the streets of old Tbilisi with their antiquity, but also the stories they bear witness to.
