SOME FRAGMENTS FROM THE HISTORY OF THE JOURNALISTIC HERITAGE OF THE OCCUPIED TSKHINVALI REGION
Abstract
David Eliozishvili, a writer and activist from Tskhinvali, a member of the Society for Spreading Literacy among Georgians, left a noticeable mark on the deepening of Georgian-Ossetian literary and journalistic relations. He actively cooperated with the Georgian periodical press of his time. He had a personal acquaintance with Akaki, Vazha.
In addition to his journalistic work, he actively participated in the performances of Tskhinvali theater enthusiasts. To illustrate what has been said, some facts can be verified. The end of the 20th century (we mean 1902. For more information on Georgian-Jewish relations in Tskhinvali, see Al. Mghebrishvili, History of Literary and Cultural Life of Tskhinvali (second revised and updated edition), Tbilisi, 2019). It turned out to be difficult for the people of Tskhinvali and even more difficult for the Georgian Jews living in Tskhinvali. A large part of Tskhinvali was engulfed by fire, which destroyed everything one after the other. Along with the house, property and all the rest, the promissory notes of the Jews of Tskhinvali were stolen. The victims said: „Without this, who will help us“. In response, the following lines appeared in "Iveria": "Besides these documents, there is another unshakable promissory note, which is called conscience, and it has not yet been destroyed in us Georgians." (newspaper. „Iveria“, 1902, #157).
Davit Eliozishvili's name is actively seen in the literary and creative arena of his time. He writes poems, is involved in the work of literary circles.
Throughout his conscious life and work, he actively collaborated in the Georgian periodical press. Several of his poems were published in the collection of works published in Tskhinvali in 1946 ("Collection of Works of Soviet Writers of South Ossetia", Stalinir, 1946, pp. 68-71), his poetic samples and translations are systematically printed in the only Georgian-language periodical of Tskhinvali. "Soviet Ossetia" newspaper. D. scattered in various periodicals. Along with Eliozishvili's original and translated poetic samples, attention is drawn to his highly active and fruitful work as a children's writer. What undoubtedly distinguishes the writer from his contemporaries. We refer to numerous publications, poems, poems, translations, stories and memories intended for boys, published in the youth magazine "Nakaduli" between 1915-1927.
The writer and activist from Tskhinvali leaves a noticeable mark in the deepening of Georgian-Ossetian literary and journalistic relations, in the activities of the society that promotes literacy among Georgians, is visible in the literary and creative arena of that time, and with his fruitful work contributes to the important work of deepening Georgian-Ossetian cultural relations..
