HISTORICAL NARRATIVE OF IAKOB GOGEBASHVILI
Abstract
Georgian children's literature of the 19th century was involved in the national liberation movement which was led by our great writers. The leaders of this struggle set the goal of awakening the patriotic spirit and national consciousness among the people as one of the priority conditions for the liberation of the Georgian people, renewal of their lives. The foundation of the national school, the establishment of the native language, and the patriotic self-awareness of the youth should be the basis for building a new, free Georgia. Iakob Gogebashvili took the greatest responsibility of this enormous work, whose contribution is the greatest importance in the history of our people. Iakob Gogebashvili considers the territory and history of the country is a sign of nationalism, along with the native language and literature, where the people's mind and noblest feelings are preserved. That is why the study and understanding of historical texts, chronicles, as the greatest treasure of Georgian spirituality, and the enrichment of children's literature with their artistically adapted versions were important . The source of Iakob Gogebashvili's historical stories are Georgian historical writing: "The Life of Kings", "The History of the Chronicler of Times" and "The Life of Kartli". Iakob Gogebashvili's stories are distinguished by the historical embroidery of the plot, artistic guess and gentle sounding Georgian language. The writer tries not to change the historical facts, artistic rendering of these facts is the basis of his creative principles. Iakob Gogebashvili's historical narrative should be perceived not only as a representation of the history of Georgia, a historical-cultural interpretation from a certain point of view, a narrative in artistic works, but also as an intervention and an opportunity to influence when historical knowledge affects the formation of the consciousness of the next generation.
