EASTERN SPACE IN THE CREATIVITY OF A. I. KUPRIN

Abstract

The actuality of this research is conditioned with sociocultural processes, connected with globalization.

This research is oledicated to learn the eastern space in  the works of the classic of Russian literature A.I. Kuprin, identifying orientalism as a cultural aspect, understanding the breadth and accuracy of its use in his prose.

Trying to conduct a holistic study of Eastern traditions in the creative perception of A.I. Kuprin, the author sets goals to find out the origins of the reasons that prompted Kuprin to turn to the world of the East (philosophical, ethical, aesthetic, biographical), to identify the writer’s works of art containing Eastern themes and motifs, meaning and symbolism of Muslim names, terms,  symbols toponyms.

The topic was studied not only on the basis of the writer’s artistic creativity, but also with the involvement of journalism, diary entries, and letters of the writer.
