FORMATION OF LEXICAL-SEMANTIC MODEL OF THE CONCEPT “EXTREMISM” BASED ON ANALYSIS OF LEXICOGRAPHICAL SOURCES

Abstract

The given study is devoted to the formation of lexical-semantic model of the lexeme extremism as a result of a lexical-semantic analysis based on Russian-language terminological and encyclopedic sources. Based on the results of the core-peripheral analysis, we tried to identify the core of the conceptual field of the concept “extremism”. To achieve this goal, we have summarized the results of the analysis of the semematic components of the lexeme extremism. Based on the selected components of the analyzed lexeme, we characterize extremism as a complex socio-political phenomenon, including both ideology and the practice of illegal use of violence and incitement of hostility, hatred on a racial, national, religious, ethnic and other socially significant basis, the purpose of which is to achieve subjects of socio-political confrontation and their goals.
